MISSING MOMMY
By T. Renée Crutcher
All day the tears kept flowing
on the inside,
but I needed them to flow
on the outside,
‘cause I liked to ‘bout drowned on the inside.
I think my soul is realizing it
must learn to breath under water,
since I can no longer
feel the touch
of the one who always wiped away my tears.
One of these ol’ days,
I won’t yearn for heaven anymore.
Until then, I’ll find a way to
champion
the restless sea inside.
