I AM THAT I AM
By Ayisha Jeffries Cissè
I am a Mystery to myself
An infinite variation on a theme called God
My edges cannot be realized in this life.
You are a mirror
You are what I know of myself...
I am a badinage in the company of lovers and strangers alike
I am a complex sentence for the uninitiated
The oft repeated verses of Fatiha.
I am a taste of wildflower honey in the mouths of those who adore me
I am highlighted pages for my progeny
I am the bright yellow daffodil that peeks it's way out of clear white snow for those who do not anticipate my coming
But yet
I am a mystery to me.
