A TONE MEANT FOR REPARATION
A Kwansaba
By Darlene Roy
In uterus, we’re mothers’ rain bow babes,
but defect’d when viewed through euro-lens.
Like Ellington, King, Angelou, we’re lore/ore
in melt less melanin pot. Now bills
are past due, for shame filled mimicry
of lush-us lips, butts, sacred-rakish
style and zing, making the world swing.
