No Business
By Shalena Dupree
As the youngest child, my family’s always in my business
Constant questions about things that’s never their business
Want to know who I’m with and where I’m going
Apparently, they don’t have their own business
Protective parents asking very detailed questions
Similar to Karen’s minding Black people’s business
Pollinating the flowers of my life
Like busy, busy bees buzzin’ in my business
Moved away to get a little more freedom
But I guess my business is their business
They’re the CEO of the company
And I’m an underpaid employee at my own business
When you have a big family like mine
It’s hard to keep them out of your business
Cause I’m the baby of the family
And the baby “don’t got no business”
