hypocrisy
By Mwatabu S. Okantah
King said he’d been to the mountain top,
said he’d seen the Promised Land,
but what promise?
what land?
another video.
another black man dead.
another Police-white-man.
officer knelt on George Floyd’s neck.
he was handcuffed.
he was surrounded by three other Policemen.
they always say they are afraid.
afraid of what?
afraid of who?
fear is the mask they wear
to disguise the monster
they harbor inside
the private corners of their worlds.
is their fear real or is it imagined?
is it sick?
is it madness?
how many videos will it take?
or is it just the same old America
being what America has
always been?
