Senryu is a non-rhyming poetic form comprised of 17 syllables. A three lined poem with 5 syllables on the first line, 7 syllables on the second line and 5 syllables on the third line. Senryu can be on any subject. In performance poetry these are called haiku too. Haiku and senryu originated in Japan. Traditional haiku focus on nature.
